Oakland artist Jackson Phillips, who is one half of the electro-pop duo Carousel, is set to release his highly anticipated indie-pop solo album Headcase on July 17th under the name of his side project Day Wave. We’re into Headcase’s first several Hype Machine top-hit tracks “Nothing At All”, “Total Zombie” and “Drag” which we covered here on B3 pages starting in November 2014. Day Wave’s latest single “We Try But We Don’t Fit In” with its dreamy layered fuzz-pop vocal harmonies, cleverly subtle indie pop-anthem lyrics and simple yet expressive rock guitar fundamentals takes the cake for our favorite track off the album thus far.
