Wow. “Skipping Stones”, the new track from Gallant and Jhene Aiko is one of the best tracks of 2016. The Adrian Younge and Stint co-produced “Skipping Stones” has us visualizing MG and TT in the modern era. It’s that accomplished. Red Bull Sound Select will release the modern soul ballad tomorrow, February 5th.
“Living Room Flow” is a new ?loose track from massage vocal specialist Jhene Aiko. The Internet appears unclear on whether the new track is attached to a new release or not but for us “Living Room Flow” is welcome uptick in quality from the former B2K pal.
Jhene keeps intact the creativity and artfulness that’s separated and helped break her on “The Pressure”. On the track, Aiko’s spot on phrasing and tone are excellent complement to “Pressure”‘s reverbed drums and non-obvious swerves. Souled Out is the debut album from Jhene Aiko, due August 25th.

Young Veggies goes in again. As the teen LA rapper is tapped for a feature on this new track from fellow Angeleno Jhene Aiko. “In Love We Trust” is a solid slice of that R&B heat that should inspire repeat spins.
Jhene Aiko – In Love We Trust (Feat. Casey Veggies)
I remember giving R&B songstress Jhene Aiko a few spins recently around when her Sailing Souls mixtape dropped. Somehow I missed this dope laidback jam with a Kanye feature. Early in the aughts, Jhene had, for lack of a better description, a tight relationship with TRL favs B2K, (wrote a bunch of tracks, sang on their records, had a baby by Omarion’s brother). Well, girl is back and she’s re-emerged here on “Sailing” and sounds great. Give this sultry heater a spin and see what you think.
Chi artist Jean Deaux gets a production assist from THEMPEOPLE on the vibe-y new R&B of “Into The Water”. Previewed from Deaux’s upcoming Soular System project, “Into the Water” is akin in sound to the deeper end of mainstream R&B radio playlists and fits neatly in style between artists like Jhene Aiko and Tinashe.
Risers BASECAMP provide a lush, low touch R&B track for songstress Sophia Black on the excellent “OVR AGN”. The L.A. singer’s sophomore single (“OVR AGN” is the follow-up to the more pop-leaning but still great “Kissing”), “OVR AGN” is great pop songwriting; melodically A+; wall to wall airtight w/ inventive hookiness; and its, most importantly, just accessible enough to current trends in R&B (there’s a definite bit of Jhene Aiko in “OVR AGN”‘s DNA) to possess that essential familiarity that all great pop succeeds on.
“The Opposite Game” is new from UK R&B artist Tara Carosielli. Of a similar DNA to sweet-voiced/deeper-than-deep songstresses of the moment like Jhene Aiko and Tinashe, Tara’s great float on top the mix vocal juxtaposed against a slowed/throwed sample & the instrumental’s deceptively dark pulse “The Opposite Game”‘s sound demands the same attention as the aforementioned Jhene, Tinashe, SZA & a run of others. Don’t miss.
Sabi, who is probably best known for her featured vocals on Cobra Starship’s Billboard Top 10 “You Make Me Feel” (good news is “Love Sounds” is nothing like that), channels Jhene Aiko or maybe even Janet Jackson w/ latest joint “Love Sounds”. The Ryan McDermott-produced track features a sultry vibe and R&B-melodicism w/ just enough of hip hop production elements to keep things relevant. Sabi’s upcoming 0-60 project is coming soon.
