The Streets – Weak Become Heroes (King Krule Remix)

originalpiratematerial

The Streets’ Original Pirate Material was a huge record for all of us at b3sci. I spun the CD (remember that shit?), when I was 18, so many times I broke the thing. Here we are 10 years on (has it really been that long?) and to celebrate that anniversary King Krule a/k/a/ Zoo Kid has put together this sharp new remix of the Pirate Material standout “Weak Become Heroes”. Young King Krule, who was likely still in primary school when this LP was first released (damn, do we feel old), does an A+ job here, not only adding his own verse to the track but also peeling back the instrumental a bit, spacing it out, modernizing it a bit (like we love that funky UK piano shit on the original) but it’s cool to hear the track like this. Don’t miss it. (ABEANO)

The Streets: Computers and Blues – Interactive Film

The Streets computers and blues video Mike Skinner shows off his true genius with the debut of a “chooseyour own adventure” style YouTube video. Based off The Streets final album Computers and Blues (due out February 7), the video includes superb music with a story that shows how idle hands are the Devil’s playground, karma really can be a bitch, and making breakfast for your neighbors may result in a kickass acoustic guitar/vocal duet; this is one of the most impressive things I’ve seen in a long time.

The Streets – Going Through Hell

skinner3

Skinner’s back, and this time it’s personal! After recently dropping a few opening salvos via twitter, Skinner let loose yesterday on the first single from dude’s supposedly last LP. (We’re calling bullshit.) Have to say, at least musically, this song is a bit unexpected. Not like that really matters. But the guitar backed track sounds fucking great anyway. Skinner, himself, sounds at the top of his game. Flowing seemingly effortlessly on the track. He could do this in his sleep. Mike, Twitter us!

The Streets – The Day After The Day Off On One

skinner2

Bloke Mike Skinner drops another in his series of twitter-released bombs. This vid comes in response to a piece by The Guardian’s Jim McMahon citing The Streets’ man’s use of the web. The commentary to Mr. McMahon is no doubt brilliant but how sick is that beat on the track. Props to Skinner for keeping us interested.

The Streets – 4 O’Clock

skinner

Our bloke Mike Skinner returns with the track for “4 O’Clock”. It’s good news to us that The Streets dude is back on his b.i. and releasing music. We’re banking serious pounds sterling on “4 O’Clock” being only a first in lengthy series of quality material.

Rick Ross – Buried In These Streets

Rick Ross

Step 1 to being like Rick Ross, listen to Rick Ross’s music. Black Dollar, the bossman’s latest mixtape, is kind of a masterpiece and the mafioso beats JakeOne-produced “Buried In These Streets” is that sort of instrumental that Ross has been bodying since the womb. Yeah, this one.

Tennis – Mean Streets

tennis

Tennis, the Denver-based duo signed to Communion Records, catches a bit of that Holy Ghost w/ the 60’s soul-informed new track “Mean Streets”. Playing out from the record at a pace and quality that’s suggestive it could just be the very only track in the world (the song takes it time), “Mean Streets” leisurely meandering pocket ebbs about Tennis singer Alana Moore’s equally nonplussed but melodically right on vocal. Tennis’ “Small Sound” EP is due November 5.
