Oskar Offermann – Find Yourself

oskaroffermann

Berlin-based contemporary deep house producer Oskar Offerman excels with a brilliant new slow-burner track called “Find Yourself”, an expansive-natured rhythm-based original which we like for its artfully-deliberate slow-unfolding 90’s-infused Massive Attack-“Paradise Circus” vibes, heated whispery-obscure vocal elements, and nicely-varied mosh of heavy bass-driven metallic percussion. Check out the new track on Oskar Offermann’s latest Mule Musiq-rep’d EP “Le Grand To Do” (full stream available on November 13th). Awesome. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

“Lover”, the 90’s-vibed latest original track from Amtrac, will be featured on Kitsune’s dynamite Hot Stream compilation. “Lover” earns its bread on a never quit house-flavored rhythm track that is impossible not to move to; mix in a neat smattering of syncopated synth lines and looped vocals and “Lover” has all the pieces and execution for an A+ track. Into it.

Flamingosis – Riding The L

flamingosis3

“Riding the L” is the latest wildly-cinematic lounge-y fantastical jazzy-horn-entwined funk-centric Chicago-street-vibe-imbued tune from B3 new-fave artist Flamingosis (a.k.a. Aaron Valasquez); a tremendously talented New Jersey artist who we recently showcased for his excellent tropical-beats infused Brazillian-funk doozy called “Momento”. Freedom Fry – 1979 (The Smashing Pumpkins)

freedomfry3

Get into the thoughtfully translated stripped-down folky-vibe acoustic-guitar-textured absolute perfection cover of 90’s-vintage Smashing Pumpkins gem (one of the best pop songs of its era) “1979” from Freedom Fry, the male-female Franco-American indie pop duo Marie Sayet and Bruce Driscoll; who we last discussed for “Tropicana”, a melody-driven track we featured for its brilliant vogey-vibrant vocals, straight-cheery upbeat tropical temperatures and hazed-out indie guitar grooves. We think the two artists collaborate beautifully to capture the uniquely-emoted epic-vibe dreamy-raw slow-poetic essence of the Smashing Pumpkins track while also putting their own stamp on the classic favorite (one of the best covers we have heard). A glowingly simplistic mesh of Sayet’s lovely murmur-y vocals and Driscoll’s accompanying bare-sensed golden-touch melody-centered acoustic folk-guitar chords, Freedom Fry’s “1979” is available for purchase on November 12th. Amazing. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Dominique – I Think I’m Fallin

Dominique1 (Cropped)

New York-based pop singer Dominique is back today with an impressive new single, “I Think I’m Fallin”. The track which was in part constructed out of the as Dominique put it, “up-and-down rollercoaster of self-doubt and confidence that is a part of making art” which the hook “I Think I’m Fallin/I Think I’m ready now” contrast most definitely speaks to. The self-produced track features an ace bit of sequenced synth and some sleekly hooky writing in the chorus that entrapped into our brain/song-space pretty much immediately. Spin “I Think I’m Fallin” below.

At the end of September we highlighted New Jersey native ani bharad (a.k.a. hip-hop producer Weird Inside) for his brightly-inspired slow-unfolding melodic toned instrumental track called “No More Heroes”. We’re charmed by his latest short n’ sweet jazz-percussion-laced hazy-synth-accented nature-calibrated eclectic beauty called “Slow Hours”. Gorgeous song. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

CALEBORATE – Want It All (Feat. G-Eazy)

caleborate

This is my first time hearing of CALEBORATE, however it won’t be the last. He links up with one of my favorites G-Eazy for “Want it All”. The flow varies throughout the song, which displays CALEBORATE’s versatility. The beat is a blend of echo vocals and an interesting mix of varying looped sounds. CALEBORATE dropped a solid project a couple months ago called Hella Good, listen to it. Reviewed by Jake Goldstein.
