Semi Hendrix – Jesus Press Mute

semihendrix

Three times Grammy Award winner Jack Splash teams up with West Coast mc pal Ras Kass (the duo is also known as Semi Hendrix) to craft a uniquely-nifty hip-hop production called “Jesus Press Mute” which excels for it’s superb mesh of a rad vintage vibe female-swooner vocal sample and the legendary straightforward-edgy words-of-wisdom rapper vocals of Ras Kass. “Jesus Press Mute” comes off of Semi Hendrix’s upcoming album Breakfast At Banksy’s which is out on October 16th on Mello Music Group. Skylar Spence – Cash Wednesday

skylarspence

Skylar Spence put his debut album out on Friday and what a grand entrance it was. Prom King is an album that I will be listening to for years to come (possibly one of the best of 2015). From top to bottom, “Can’t You See”, “Fall Harder”, “Fiona Coyne” and “I Can’t Be Your Superman”, this is an album the internet should get behind. Scope my favorite track “Cash Wednesday” below, 2:31 of pure fun. Reviewed by Tony Perkis.

KYLE – Endless Summer Symphony

kyle

Summer is coming to an end but that’s not stopping Kyle from dropping his seasonally-themed latest single “ Endless Summer Symphony” from his upcoming sophomore album Smyle. It’s an upbeat pop influenced track with a groovy feel that samples the 1998 K.P. & Envyi classic “Swing My Way.” Reviewed by Jake Goldstein.

Moosh & Twist – Woah

mooshandtwist

Moosh and Twist have been pumping out new incredible music recently and “Woah” is no exception. The catchy Louis Bell-produced beat pairs perfectly with Moosh and Twist’s clever word play. Nothing has been announced yet, but I think the duo are prepping to drop a mixtape in the near future; so keep a lookout for that! Reviewed by Jake Goldstein

Rave’s Fave: The Strypes – A Good Night’s Sleep and a Cab Fare Home

strypes

Two years ago, The Strypes were one of the hottest new bands emerging from the UK. They were amazing live and released their stellar debut Snapshot that blended uptempo 60’s rock and r&b. US response was promising but they failed to quite get over the top, possibly due to their label being involved in a merger. With all their potential, the questions arose: What would they do for an encore? The Little Victories album has been out in the UK for over a month. It displays a real maturity for the band, as they take on a heavier sound and varying tempos. As of this writing, the band still doesn’t have a US release date despite this being a strong follow-up and them being killer live. I trust that in short time, a label will come forward because this band is simply too good. Here’s our “Fave” for first single “Scumbag City”. For a song that stretches out a little more, try “A Good Night’s Sleep and a Cab Fare Home”. These guys will be fine in the long run. There’s too much talent all around, and the time will probably come when guitarist Ross Farrelly gets his due as one of rock’s premier players. Reviewed by Bruce Rave.
