Easy Lover is a Brooklyn-based duo comprised of multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Wimmer and singer Kali Holloway. New song, “The Sweet” begins a gentle pulse and darkly glittered atmosphere carried along by Holloway’s lush melodic vocal, which unexpectedly strolls into pop song territory (of worthy replay value) with a triumphant brass lead refrain. The track is premiered here from the band’s forthcoming self-released and sophomore EP, The Night We Breathe.
As singer Kali Holloway eloquently puts it:
“There’s something about a pop melody, the way a classic pop melody can prop up a whole song. Even when it’s covered in dust and haze and warped by the lolling sounds around it — and we like all those things, too, very much — you can still hear it underneath in our songs, I think. It’s just such a nice sound to wrap yourself in.”

Stunning. Painstakingly stunning. “Chokehold” is the new track from London-based Alanna McArdle a/k/a Ides. The mix of the near, intimate lyrics and content of the track set against the bare, intense but still arm’s length solo electric guitar instrumental is special is just about every way.

The great Misun return today w/ a kinetic, Morricone-as-distilled-through-a-mirrorball new song “Hills and Trails”. On the track, a country & western-inspired two-step buoys reverbed-out guitar strums and melodic 8-bit synths and singer Misun Wojick’s great multi-speed vocal stylings. A++

Of course, the dark guitar pop of Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band’s “The Blast, The Bloom” is right up our alley. Very muscular and rhythm-driven for a track that’s been arranged actually quite delicately (there’s an intricacy in the noise of this record that’s really rather stellar), “The Blast, The Bloom” fills well the current dearth of indie bands peddling engaging visceral guitar music. We love it. HWBMB is a project of a dude called Tunde Adebimpe from some band named TV On The Radio and their debut EP is out the 1st of October.

With tracks like the immensely catchy soul-leaning indie pop of “Twisted” (excerpted here from his debut “Say What You Want” EP), newcomer London-based artist Breen is poised to be a pretty big deal. Soulful without sounding hokey and a million times modern, the entire four track “Say What You Want” EP comes highly recommended from your friendly b3 crew, stream it here.
