“Polar Bear” is a nice ditty from Giraffage. We mean that in the nicest kind of way, it captivates with its dreamy bitstep like qualities. The debut LP Comfort is set for release this fall.

Giraffage – Polar BearBlu’s latest “My Sunshine” features Nia Andrews and makes our mix for tomorrow morning. The track’s flow finds a trance, a constant moment, one of those ‘don’t let it stop’ type grooves. The hook satisfies and back for more.

Mariachi El Bronx is a side project of the LA punk buzz band The Bronx. This is the song that they nailed on Jay Leno last Thursday night. It’s a long way from punk but you can feel some of that same energy. Listen to it and/or watch it below. Contributed by Bruce Rave

Paper Diamond plays it tight in the opening few bits on his remix for SBTRKT and Yukimi Nagano’s “Wildfire” suiting up the track on some polite enough 808’s; but from the first moment the first couple wobbles drop into the track you know PD is absolutely not playing. He is going for it all. He’s going for a serious mix. Play the serious mix.

Pro Green is back with some of that BANNED IN THE UK rap shit. The Prof clocked in at #50 on our tracks of the year list last year with that “Just Be Good to Green” track he did with Lily Allen. Is the punchier big beat “At Your Inconvenience” as good “Just Be Good to Green”? Prob not. Is it still a decent track worth at least spin or two? Absolutely.

Wavepool Abortion had us at their band name. (Seriously, how awesome?) Well, at least they had our attention. It was a nice surprise that in addition to maybe one of the greatest band names of all time, their music was actually good. The weirdos that make up Wavepool Abortion are a couple of teens from Moscow, Russia that judging from the sounds of it love themselves a little American lo-fi-wave. Most of that music is boring but there’s something about how these creepers have cooked down that sound that manages to not only hold your attention but keep you interested track by track.

“Lesson No. 7” is new from one of our favorite newer bands Clock Opera. The track will be included in an upcoming EP release to October 3. If you’re into Clock Opera’s remix work or good electronic informed rock and roll “Lesson No. 7” should do you quite nicely.

“Surrender” is the first listen from Duke Spirit’s upcoming Bruiser LP. “Surrender” finds the Spirit team on a bit heavier sound (at least for singles) than the previous material. Duke Spirit are one of our favorite bands and “Surrender” is definitely worthy addition to the band’s canon.

Tayyib’s flow is sick. The young Philly MC links up here w singer Dave Patten for a sharp little track. I think Tayyib Ali is a name we will be hearing a lot of in the coming months. Tracks like “Live On the Road” demand a wider audience.
