Ellie Goulding – Anything Could Happen (VEVO GO Session)

Ellie Goulding recently layed down this intimate acoustic version of her single “Anything Could Happen” while rooftop at The Standard Hotel in Downtown LA, for an exclusive session with VEVO GO. Some of team B3SCI were in the audience for the taping of this secret set and we must say… we were quite impressed with the singer-songwriter. Fighting the noise of the busy downtown streets below and even helicopters above, Ellie and her band nailed the performace with noteworty grace. Ms. Goulding’s new album Halcyon is out now and Ellie will be going on tour again this December. Needless to say her show is a don’t miss. Words by Brian Litwin / Photos by Russ Ramos

GHXST – Doomgirl

NYC based rockers Ghxst effectively mix 90’s alternative rock and a touch of the blues with their own distorted experimental style, delightfully dark and bawdy vocals, and unmistakable guitar excess. The aptly labeled deth-grunge trio who are originally from Britian site their musical influences as Jesus and Mary Chain, White Zombie, and Sonic Youth. Check out their irresistibly fierce track “Black Camaro” (video below) for its raw washed-out-bad-kid sensibility, booming damaged vocals, and relentless guitar grind. By Erin Feathers

Giveaway: Michael Kiwanuka – Home Again (Vinyl LP)

There’s something tender about the delivery from Michael Kiwanika throughout his Home Again release that always keeps us coming back for more. The 2012 Mercury Prize nominee seems to have a certain candidness and comfort as a songwriter, displaying a musical etiquette on this debut album that’s been unparalleled in his craft for years. The popularity of the soulful songwriter has grown equally proportional, making him a hot ticket to experience live (festivals, club dates, anywhere!) on both sides of the Atlantic. So needless to say, Kiwanuka showcases potential to be one of the most relevant songwriters of the decade, and we won’t be surprised to see Home Again as a recurring target on many 2012 year-end lists.

Needless to say, if you haven’t checked out this album, then we highly recommend that you do. Die Mason Die is a new noteworthy project from 19 years young frontman Samuel Mason. The band’s debut single “Lost” grabbed us from it’s delicate introduction to it’s clinching folk rock stride of a refrain. Die Mason Die showcase the dynamics and pop sensibiities of a group well beyond their years. Expect their debut EP early November.

Keaton Henson – Kronos [Video]

Keaton Henson has been a favorite around here since we first stumbled on his Dear… LP earlier this year. Turns out the album was a bit of re-release that had barely ever seen the light of day. So it came as a pleasant suprise today when hits-of-the-planet-man Zane Lowe played a new track by Keaton titled “Kronos” from his forthcoming Sweetheart, What Have you Done To Us EP release. “Kronos” busts out, with a power previously untapped, within the song’s first few measures. Like channeling a sweet release to the inpressive restraints held in check throughout Dear…. Preview the music video for “Kronos” below and keep an eye out for Keaton’s new EP dropping early November.

Exclusive: Diamond Rings (Live Session)

About a year ago we invited Diamond Rings to stop by and perform some of his songs for our freshly minted session series. And so, the man himself soon visited Feliz hts. during a brief west coast stint with Twin Shadow for a close and personal look at the songwriting behind the artist. Armed with just his 6-string, John O shared “It’s Not My Party” and a rad rendition of “Wait and See,” performed on the fire escape right outside of our window. Camera acrobatics and all, we captured the moment!

Check out this exclusive and previously unreleased performance footage from Diamond Rings below, and be sure to mark you calendars for his new full length Free Dimensional dropping this October.
