The veritable power-house that is POWERS (the duo of Mike Del Rio and Crista Ru) makes a strong return today on the irresistible and compellingly-constructed “Hot”. The B3SCI Records alums (now signed to Republic) will release “Hot” as component track of a new EP called “Legendary” out on October 23rd.

Still Parade, the project of Berlin-based musician Niklas Kramer, releases “Concrete Vision”, the first stream from the act’s upcoming debut LP. “Concrete Vision” is a hazy and accessible example of just very good indie pop writing, an accomplished track.

On the heels of her THC-produced early-90’s hip-hop vibe throwback track “Candy Salad” the ever-entertaining LA artist Doja Cat takes the cake with her new freestyle “Men Like Lavender”, a slow burning morose-moody scratchy-melodic tune which is packed with sentiment. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

New to B3 Brooklyn producer Octo Octa (a.k.a. Michael Bouldry-Morrison) puts out a deep atmospheric emotion-saturated twist on Juan Maclean’s 2014 blase-vocals-led expansive deep house dance track “Here I Am” (which has been the subject of several remixes). Brazillian DJ/producer Heiken (who is slated to perform on day five at the Electric Daisy Carnival-EDC BRASIL) teams up with Brazilian producer pal Chemical Disco (Alexandre Matoso) for a disco-accented bass-heavy bold-synth-inspired dance-floor gem called “Do What You Do”. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Bloc Party are back and in a winning way. This new single doesn’t revert to their original post-punk ways, but it seems to be exactly where the band should be in 2015. The melodies are there, it’s got a groove that reminds slightly of singer Kele’s solo work, and there’s a strange, haunting organ that will likely stick to your ribs. Ace guitarist Russell Lissack remains in the fold, but their nearly irreplaceable rhythm section of old is now history. If “The Love Within” is any indication, this version of the band will be just fine. Reviewed by Bruce Rave.

LA band Blondfire, who we covered in 2014 for their dance-y dreamy alt-pop slice of heaven Young Heart LP, comes out with a catchy new one called “True Confessions” which we like for its pop-infused radio-ready sentimentality and excellent straight-forward anthemic-melodic sing-along vocals. B3 favorite Hatian-Canadian producer/mentor/industry-connector Kaytranada wows us yet again with classics on his top-notch club edit of Busta Rhymes featured Tribe Called Quest track “Oh My God”. Kaytranada creates a beautifully translated impeccable meld of dramatic piano chords, catchy well-timed vocal infusions and a vivaciously slick and stylized bass-line that we are caught up on. Ah, this one’s a bit heavy isn’t it? “Creepy” is quite good. The track from L.A.-based newcomers Oyster Kids rides to a B3 A+, a neat well-appointed dark groove shinned up by a very good bit of pop writing in the melody. A band to keep ears on.

It’s a deep track that delves into Rick Ross’s past mistakes and romances. If you have not already, take a listen to Rozay’s latest project Black Dollar he dropped recently.
