The Wands – Hello I Know The Blow You Grow Is Magic

Well fed psychedelia here from a new Copenhagen group known as The Wands. This blahblah-blow track has been a serious fever to our speakers as of late. The band’s debut EP is scheduled to drop early November. Be sure to stay tuned for more “magic” to come on The Wands.

Idles – Two Tone

Couple of tones we’re liking in the latest we’ve heard from Idles. Mostly it offers up something we’ve been missing from songs (in general) in a while, some balls.

RAVE’S FAVE! Tilly and The Wall – Heavy Mood

Just as summer comes to end, Tilly & the Wall are back with another party record to keep things festive. This is like a triple espresso. It’s got the riff from Deep Purple’s classic metal song “Hush” mixed with modern electronics. “Heavy Mood” is the album’s title track, and it will probably leave you in anything but a heavy mood.

Astronauts, etc. – Mystery Colors (Celestial Trax Remix)

This debut remix from Celestial Trax is something of a beaut. The young London collective flip the blogosmash from Astronauts, etc. into an ethereal portrait of experimental elements and distorted vocal samples. Chillax to some “Mystery Colors” below.

QuESt – One Way (Prod. Mt. Eden)

Miami rapper QuESt goes expertly in on a Netsky instrumental. These “produced by” sort of electronic hip hop tracks can often fall flat but “One Way” stands out from its more mediocre peers with its great hook/chorus and QuESt’s tasteful use of the instrumental track (he doesn’t get all AGGRO or let the track get in his way).

Halona King – Overgrown Hearts

We’re not sure from where Halona King came from… but we’re glad it was somewhere. If you get weak in the knees like us when you hear soul music wrenched from contemporary soundscapes ala Adele, Alabama Shakes, Sade, Little Dragon, Cold War Kids, etc. then this deserves your attention (yeah we know that’s a crazy mix but trust us!). Halona King’s self-titled debut (we’re assuming) EP dropped as a free download this week. This couldn’t find the pocket any better.
