Sam Moss – Flowers

Sam Moss of the artist collective and label Lost Honey Records has released a new single in anticipation of his upcoming LP, Neon. “Flowers” is a stunning testament to Moss’s expertise as both a singer/songwriter and a talented instrumentalist. The track shines as tender and accessible folk. While his music has reached NPR, Fader, and WXPN, his audience is still growing—and deservedly so.

S. Carey – Fool’s Gold

Sticking to his signature hypnagogic sound, S. Carey is preparing to release his third full-length album, Hundred Acres. Prior to its scheduled debut of February 23, the Eau Claire-based musician has decided to give us a taste of what’s to come. “Fool’s Gold” sports an unprecedented raw confidence. Compressed reverb from an assortment of acoustic guitars sputter and pang ever so gently. S. Carey’s voice is central yet tempered. Is it folktronica or just a highly produced singer-songwriter? I suppose that’s up to you. Check out his Bandcamp to listen in.

Premiere: Payton Odom – At My Door

“At My Door”, the debut track online from Brooklyn via Texas songwriter Payton Odom is one of those extraordinary at-the-beginning moments when a great lyric and melody and perfectly-tuned production come together for a new artist in a most remarkable way. On “At My Door”, Odom matches a spare piano-driven aesthetic to subtle electronics and a cool midtempo rhythm track to a wonderfully plaintive lyric. Odom describes writing “At My Door”, “I wrote ‘At My Door’ while rumbling underneath the East River on my morning train ride from Brooklyn to Manhattan, which is always a bit of a lucid dream. For me, the song is about knowing how to stay safe by staying alone, and wondering about whether the push-pull of a relationship will ever settle.” Stream the B3SCI Premiere of “At My Door” from Payton Odom below.

Teen Ravine – Hall of Horrors

We’re loving the baroque balladry of “Hall of Hours” from Toronto’s Teen Ravine. Really simply, “Hall of Horrors” is a beautiful piece of songwriting and arranged in a way that indicative of a supremely talented artist. A++.

Premiere: Sean Christopher – Paper Plane Pilot

Dutch musician in Bristol UK Sean Christopher streams great new track “Paper Plane Pilot”. Mr. Christopher whose song “Everything” sync’d internationally in an Audi commercial pulls particular inspiration for this new track from his father’s flamenco guitar playing. The track itself excels on that swerve-y texture in route to a very listenable and magnetic bit of guitar pop. We’re very pleased to B3 premiere “Paper Plane Pilot” below and look for Sean Christopher’s debut LP Yonder forthcoming from Dumont Dumont.
