Beach Baby – Sleeperhead

beachbaby3

B3SCI Records alums Beach Baby knock out another very strong single, “Sleeperhead”. Constructed instrumentally on what’s become sort of the band’s calling card; phased guitars, dynamic and slightly swerve-y harmonies and big-sounding drums/rhythm track “Sleeperhead” follows the also very good “Limousine” from the Fall. BB will playing dates in the UK in February and March with Sundara Karma which you can peruse below.

BLV – My Girl (Roman Kouder Remix)

blv

We recently featured French rising star producer Roman Kouder for his dynamic Patawawa-assisted nu-disco club jam “Fly”. We’re soaking up his latest glam-effects-tinged disco-energetic spin on track “My Girl” (feat. Stuart Parmley) by fellow Parisian artist BLV (released last month). Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Lionlimb – Domino

lionlimb2

Lionlimb will release their debut LP Shoo for Bayonet Records on March 4th. Great new track “Domino” dips a touch into the melodic well of Elliott Smith while showing off a new beefed up and varied sound (electric organs, horn arrangements, etC) from the band that we like. Get into “Domino” below.

Sandals – Dust Bowl

sandals

We’re into the jangly beachside bedroom pop of Kingston ON musician Ben Morin a/k/a Sandals. Reminding a bit of bands like Hibou and even Real Estate, the very good “Dust Bowl” neatly balances great melody and with cool mood and atmosphere. We love it.

Wax Witches – Habit

waxwitches

Get into the vigorously delivered, hazy lo-fi punk-edge garage rock vibes of Brooklyn-based artist Wax Witches, who we covered here in regards to his 2014 Bootleg Bar performance in LA. We recommend Wax Witches’ latest track “Habit” for two minutes of intense screechy guitar-riff-dominated bliss. The riotous new tune is off his “Memory Painting” EP out via Burger Records on March 18th. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Flamingosis – Frugal Livin (Feat. Ian Ewing)

flamingosis5

B3 go-to producer Flamingosis goes retro-flamboyant with a funky instrumental mix of beats, 70’s lounge tv-sit-com vibe horn and synth infusions, and a rather catchy guitar groove on his recently-released charmer track “Frugal Living”; which also features B3 covered artist Ian Ewing (in October we liked Ian’s lustrous-toned playful-vibe beats-led eclectic beauty track called “Water”). If you’re as into the new track as much we are, look for it on Flamingosis’ soon-to-release “Great Hair EP” (out February 12th). Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Kill J – You’re Good, But I’m Better (Sad Money Remix)

killj2

LA-based producer Sad Money wows us with a superbly smooth down-tempo remix of “You’re Good But I’m Better”; a hype-worthy gem from B3 fave drone pop femme fatale Kill J (who has almost 500,000 Soundcloud hits in a few months on the track). Using perfect punctuating trap percussion and subtle-luminous synth effects Sad money excels in transforming Kill J’s daringly-feminist risqué incredible-vocals-led avant-pop mantra to something slightly more elevated and approachable. Amazing. We love how effectively Sad Money creates a sugary spin on Kill J’s beautifully brash lyrics. Excellent remix. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Premiere: Elliot & The Ghost – Big Tease

Elliot & The Ghost Press Pic

Brooklynites Elliot & The Ghost return with third single “Big Tease” following up previous track “Peach”. “Big Tease” is built stylistically of equal parts grimy and melodic Anglo-American rock, a sound that bands like Arctic Monkeys have rode to enormous success. All the style’s requisite components are there on “Big Tease”; distorted guitars wailing away in a minor-key, vaguely R&B rhythmic architecture, and most importantly an abundance of big vocal hooks at the all the right moments. Enjoy to the B3SCI Premiere of “Big Tease” from Elliot & The Ghost below. The “Big Tease” single is out tomorrow, January 15.

Sensi Sye – No Doubt

sensisye2

This fall we got familiar with the distinct style of artist-talent Sensi Sye (a.k.a. Simon) and most recently featured his sparkling-delicate sweet-evocative effortless-natural hushed-hued enchanting-vibe percussion-permeated atmospheric remix of Mree track “Lift Me Up”. With that said, we are more than pleased to run across his latest trap-percussion-drenched falsetto-vocals-tinged ambient atmospheric melodic wonder “No Doubt”. Tune into its very excellent vocals.
