BOYO – Hit or Miss

Danger Collective will release BOYO’s Dance Alone LP in November. “Hit or Miss” is Dance Alone’s latest stream. The very cool “Hit or Miss” features a 70’s-ish atmosphere in the heaviness of its space. Stream “Hit or Miss” below.

Hope Tala – Valentine

“Valentine”, from West London singer Hope Tala, is excerpted here from “Starry Ache” Tala’s new just-released EP. “Valentine” is a neat blend of whirling rhodes, a kinetic neo-soul-esque rhythm track, and Tala’s cool vocal atop the mix. Listen below.

Mark Whalen – Happen Twice

“Happen Twice” comes to us from Michigan man Mark Whalen. Propelled by a school of Norman Whitfield midtempo bassline and an array of minor-keyed guitar leads, “Happen Twice” is as cool as a “Cloud Nine” deep cut.

Liam Bailey – Brother, Why You Gotta Love Her (Feat. Maverick Sabre)

Its most excellent to hear Liam Bailey’s powerhouse vocal again. Bailey is back with a great new tune in the form of “Brother, Why You Gotta Love Her?”. The track features the recently re-emerged Maverick Sabre (we loved his “Drifting” track from last month), and puts Bailey’s A-level vocal at the fore over a spare rhythm-driven instrumental. Stream Liam Bailey’s new one below.

Kate Bollinger – Do U Go Out Together?

Virginia singer Kate Bollinger sets her cool melodic alto to a hazy keys-driven instrumental that as a track sounds that it’d be equally at home in A$AP Rocky’s air pods as he’s ambling by the Seine as it does on this very dusty not so A$AP SF bus I’m on right now. Great track.

Goss – Fever Ray

This week’s B3SCI Top 12 of the Week cover went to the primo modern pop of “Fever Ray” from Goss. “Fever Ray” is constructed over a spacious instrumental framed by bits of jazz chord guitar and various other syncopations suited to a spare but very soulful main vocal melody. It sounds great. Listen to “Fever Ray” below.

Red Ribbon – Your Car

Union Zero Records released Seattle band Red Ribbon’s Dark Party LP on Friday. “Your Car” caught our attention. The track’s artwork doubles as a for sale ad for the singer’s actual 1999 Civic (no word on whether the automobile is still available at the time of this posting). “Your Car” the song is rad, a breezy bit of rhythm-driven indie pop beamed from deep on in the reverb ether.

ONUR – Beamin’

gd man. “Beamin'” is new from UK artist ONUR. Reminding a tiny bit in its aesthetic of Jai Paul, “Beamin'” is spilling over the brim with A+ soul-driven hooks. Don’t miss it.

Bay Ledges – Wherever You Sleep

“Wherever You Sleep” is new from LA sibling duo Bay Ledges. The engine of a no frills main drum track and q steady chug of synth and guitar propel “Wherever You Sleep” and acts as a cool counterpoint to the quieter harmony-driven bits of the main vocal. We are into it.

Premiere: Das Kope – Good Time

We’re into the psych pop of L.A. via Sao Paulo artist Das Kope. A veteran of the Spotify Fresh Finds playlist, Kope brings a cool skilled sensibility to the genre on brand new track “Good Time”, drawing in phased out but well-arranged harmony and kaleidoscope guitar sounds to what is a very good bit of melodic writing. We’re pleased to B3SCI Premiere Das Kope’s “Good Time” below.

[B3SCI Records] Evalyn – Salvation [EP]

Out today on B3SCI Records is “Salvation” the sophomore EP from Venice CA artist Evalyn. The follow-up to 2017’s “Sandcastle” EP (also on B3), “Salvation” runs 8 tracks and includes singles “Angels”, “Big Bad City”, “Pill to Crush”, and latest “Crème de la Crème”. The new EP examines track by track each of the seven deadly sins through the context of cult-consumption-driven modern culture in Los Angeles and beyond, an approach that Best Fit calls “a breezy euphoria at the intent of living life zealously.” More details about the EP can be found at B3SCI Records and you can stream EP tracks “Big Bad City” and “Crème de la Crème” below.
