The run-up to Tinashe’s Joyride continues on with sultry new track “Energy”. An expert late-night R&B instrumental c/o of producer Mike Will Made It provides a cool frame for Tinashe’s easy vocal glide (+ a verse from Juicy J!). She exercise, she eat yogurt.
B3 fave and exquisitely-talented artist Tom Misch turns in another amazing radiant-guitar-touched stunning-instrumentals-led masterpiece “Never Moved” which has (as per Misch’s breathtaking usual) a divine balance of catchy melodics and tranquil sun-kissed vocal vibes. Swedish quintet Francis will release their international debut LP Marathon on February 5th on Strangers Candy. Recorded and co-produced with Deerhunter producer Nicolas Vernhes, the LP’s latest stream is the stunning unfolding pop of “Turning a Hand”. “Turning” in its most sublime moments rotates about a kaleidoscope whirl of re-verb guitars and and sweeping percussion. B3 recently covered New York-based Parisian Kayloo for his subtle yet robust trap-accented French-touch-permeated late night dance spin on the Internet’s poetic-sexy vocals-led Ego Death album gem “Get Away”. We also recommend Kayloo’s new groovy chill-vibe lounge-y instrumental beat track “Porte Dorée” (French for Golden Gate). Kayloo’s third track to hit the pages of B3, “Porte Dorée”, is a warmly enveloping rhythmic-melodic electro soundscape that vaguely (not sure the circumstances) pays homage to another B3 fave artist TEK.LUN. (We would love to know the story behind this very good tune.) Kayloo (now rep’d by Singapore label Darker Than Wax) exhibits a good deal of artistic promise on the track and we look forward to hearing more songs from him real soon. Reviewed by Erin Shay.
Lose Yourself in the beautifully compelling sublimely sunny jazz-lounge-apropos Norah Jones-vibe vocals and lovely meld of minimalist melodic-tone-led instrumentals on new song “You Give Me That” from sensational new NYC songstress Raveena (track produced by Everett Orr). The UK band Teleman has returned with a track that portends potential major band status for them. This group has always had the ingredients in their melodies, arrangements, and overall skills. “Fall In Time” begins with vocalist Tom Sanders and his beautiful vocals over basically a piano before the rest of the band kicks in. The song builds into an accessible yet complex collaboration that should be magic to the ears of anyone listening closely. It has a rhythmic feel that provides a somewhat different sound for Teleman but we’ve seen indications in the past that the band has always had this kind of direction in them. We recomend the short and sweet (pleasantly soulful) synth textured beats track called “Nilox” from twenty-something German experimental-electro producer Persian Empire, a.k.a. Sam Khatam (who we covered here in July for his blissfully harmonic ambient-atmospheric “Mongo Maracuja” EP single “Jugo”). New track “Nilox” (an intricate weave of technicolor synth interludes, fun and lively JB-infused vocals, and subtle on-point percussion) is out via Purrrrrrr Records. Reviewed by Erin Shay.
The scuzz pop of “Byker Drone” is the debut track online from UK band EAT. A component part of a forthcoming EP, “Byker Drone” is a hazy three or some minutes of sugary melodies sat in a mold of compressed guitar and walls of vaguely psychedelic harmony. It’s a cool debut.
Nashville-based riser Ben Elkins a/k/a ELEL is the recipient of an A+ deep house-flavored remix of his single for “Kiss Kiss”. The remix, produced by Australian musician Kilter, is spun around the feel and tenor of the club in its later hours but also maintains (an expert style move by Kilter) a cool bit of the great pop melodic framework of the original track. It’s a remix not to be missed. We’re pleased to B3 Premiere the Kilter Remix of ELEL’s “Kiss Kiss” single below.
Expand your mood with the brightly-spun dynamic of Latin rhythms, dazzling brass instrumentals and psychedelic oozy reverb-y guitar grooves on brilliant new disco-tinged dance jam “On Te L’avit Dit” from talented veteran UK artist Raw-Artes. This is one the best dance tracks we have heard this month. Fantastic! Reviewed by Erin Shay.
Team B3 is happy to announce we’ve paired up with Roll Call Records to present Monday’s (January 25th) SWIMM show at The Echo in Los Angeles. Night 4 the band’s month-long Monday night residency at The Echo, the show will feature cool support from New Electric Sound, TOLD and Good Graeff. As an added bonus (!) there will be a video crew at the show to shoot the band and the gig, so if you do attend, you also have a shot at becoming famous too. We’re stoked to announce the release of “The Bridge and the Wall” / “Pigments” on limited edition white 12″ vinyl. “The Bridge and the Wall” has accumulated nearly 150,000 Soundcloud streams and was called by DIY as pop that is “glistening” and “glacial”. New track “Pigments” has already been named a “glittering new chunk of pop gold” by Best Fit and a “gem” by Pigeons and Planes.
